Pacifica San Juan

Identity design for a very high-end master plan community in Southern California(starting 1.5 mil). This San Juan Capistrano community resides in a location with great coastal views, so we combined ample whitespace with softer assets that played on the sea. We introduced a sketched shell with watercoloring, as well as additional watercoloring textures to allude to sea mist and waves without ever having to be focal about them. The intent of the watercolor and cool temperature was a deliberate choice to curb any 'uncleanliness' associated with the ocean to the Asian buyer. The logo was inherited from the master plan, but we still adjusted letter spacing and typeset the subline in our Gotham typeface. The collection logos then flipped the Garalde Serif/over Gotham combination. Below these screen captures were also the other presented concepts alongside the chosen favorite: 1 a little more whimsical, CA Asian-art inspired vibe, and the other a little more modern and bold.

about me

Thanks for dropping by! I’m Justin and Lifefroots is my portfolio.

"Why 'lifefroots'?" Well... justinwagner.com was taken. From there I thought it was a play on either the 'fruits of my life' or 'my life roots'. I thought this might linger in someone's mind longer than any other thought I had at the time. It was fine for the time being and it just stuck over the years. Getting that out of the way, my passion for design is most likely the reason you are here. If so, that's great, because it's a large part of who I am.

It all started with video...I had spent my childhood filming and editing BMX videos of my friends and I. That led me to my double major in video and photographic studies. From there, I fell into working on the web. I am a collector and a completest at heart, so I decided that I needed to learn how to code. I learned HTML,CSS,JS,PHP and worked as a lead front-end dev for a few years. Again as a completist, I moved from web to interface which then led me to focus on the importance of overall user experience. After checking all of those boxes, I returned to design and its role in the overall customer's experience. I am currently working as the Senior Art Director at Toll Brothers leading all interactive, digital, and video content.

Aside from brand and clean code, I love bicycles, my cats, technology (part-fanboy part audiophile), history, and anything vintage.

Thank you for your time, and I hope you found at least something interesting here. Now let’s create something special together.
